Hilary Duff Is BACK As Lizzie McGuire In New Disney+ Series

Hey now, hey now!

Hilary Duff is reprising her titular role of Lizzie McGuire in a new series for Disney+, and this is DEFINITELY what dreams are made of!

On Friday at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Duff shared the news with an enthusiastic audience. Per EW, the 31-year-old explained (below) the premise of the new series on stage:

“It’s so great to be home. The good news is, just like me and everybody who loved Lizzie and has grown up with her, Lizzie’s also grown up. She’s older, she’s wiser, she has a much bigger shoe budget, which is super exciting. She has her dream job. She has kind of the perfect life right now.”

So what’s Lizzie been up to since we last saw her in 2004? It seems like she has it all figured out and is living it up in the Big Apple:

“She’s working as an apprentice to a fancy New York City decorator. She has her dream guy, who owns a cool SoHo restaurant. She has her dream apartment in Brooklyn. And she’s getting ready to celebrate her 30th birthday.”

While it has not yet been confirmed if fellow leading cast members Adam Lamberg, Jake Thomas, Lalaine, Hallie Todd, or Robert Carradine will also be taking on their original roles, one character who is returning is Lizzie’s animated alter ego of her inner thoughts:

“She is still dealing with that 13-year-old no-holds-barred animated Lizzie that’s constantly babbling in her adult Lizzie head. So she has to deal with that. But I think that’s what’s going to make it really special.”

The momma of two shared a sweet montage video on Friday afternoon to Instagram with clips of her character, set to What Dreams Are Made Of from The Lizzie McGuire Movie:

The Younger star also took to her IG Story to share more about the exciting announcement:

“Hey guys I am here at the Grand Californian in Anaheim at Disneyland and I’m here to head over to D23, after hair and makeup, to announce the Lizzie McGuire reboot for Disney+, and I am beyond excited.

Honestly I’ve thought about what I would say for quite a few days now, and I don’t really have words. It’s crazy. I’ve really missed her.

I think now is a great time for her to come back, in her 30s and you know she’s everybody’s best friend and I can’t wait to go on this next chapter with her and I hope everyone is as excited as I am.

I never ever get nervous, but I’m actually a little bit nervous right now!”

Sources Say Ben Affleck Is In A ‘Great Place’ As He Celebrates One Year Of Sobriety

Ben Affleck is officially celebrating 365 days of sobriety.

Sources close to the Gone Girl actor say he is doing better than ever, one year after giving up booze and months after completing a 40-day stay at a rehabilitation center for his ongoing battle with alcoholism.

According to an Us Weekly source, the Oscar winner’s life is definitely on the upswing, noting:

“Ben is in a great place in his recovery and life. He continues to want to be the best father and friend he can be.”

Per the insider, Ben has been spending any free time outside of work obligations and the commitment to his personal recovery actively co-parenting his three kids with ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. The former couple shares 13-year-old Violet, 10-year-old Seraphina, and seven-year-old Samuel from their previous marriage.

“He and Jen do amazingly well at co-parenting the children. They have shared a great summer with the kids doing outings, travels, etc. They have a very trusting and special relationship.”

Well, that’s great to hear — especially when you consider the kids in this situation!

It wasn’t exactly an easy decision, but a necessary one, when the 47-year-old staged an intervention to confront her ex about his dangerous downward spiral and urge him to seek professional help.

These days though, Garner has been “really supportive” of the Triple Frontier actor as they “work very closely on parenting their kids,” per the source.

“Ben has found balance between his work and home life. He remains committed to a number of treatment and wellness methods that focus on his health.”

After completing his time in rehab, the Justice League star thanked his followers for the support in an October 2018 Instagram message, which read:

“The support I have received from my family, colleagues and fans means more to me than I can say. It’s given me the strength and support to speak about my illness with others. Battling any addiction is a lifelong and difficult struggle. Because of that, one is never really in or out of treatment. It is a full-time commitment. I am fighting for myself and my family.”

Affleck also sought treatment on two different occasions — back in 2001 and 2017 — for similar struggles with alcohol use.

It sounds like Ben is well on his way to putting those dark days behind him, and we’re so glad to hear it! Keep it going, buddy!

Why Jennifer Aniston Was Almost Written Off Of ‘Friends’ In The First Season!

So no one told us Jenifer Aniston was almost written off of Friends, until now!

In an excerpt from the new book Generation Friends: An Inside Look at the Show That Defined a Television Era, which is being released in September in honor of the iconic show’s upcoming 25th anniversary, it has been revealed that Aniston’s character was almost written off due to a scheduling conflict!

Related: Jen Aniston & Justin Theroux Reunite In Mourning Of Their Dog

In excerpts from pop culture writer Saul Austerlitz‘s book, we learn about why Rachel Green was only going to stick around for half of a season, and more!

No Rachel?

EW confirmed that if the CBS comedy series Muddling Through, which Aniston had shot several unaired episodes of, was picked up, Friends would have lost her halfway through the first season.

Saul explains:

Muddling Through had already shot a half-dozen episodes, none of which had aired, and CBS, after some dithering, ultimately chose to put the show on its summer schedule, in the relative dead zone of Saturday nights. Hearing the news, [Warren] Littlefield turned to [Preston] Beckman, NBC’s scheduling guru, with a two-word order: ‘Kill it.’”

Jennifer Aniston Middle Finger GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

Austerlitz’s excerpts also reveal more telling secrets from behind-the-scenes of the iconic series, including a potential romance, and how the cast came together!

Joey + Monica = Love?

The romance between Chandler Bing and Monica Geller almost never existed, as show creators initially wanted the romance to be between Joey Tribbiani and Courteney Cox’s character:

“[David] Crane and [Marta] Kauffman initially pictured Joey and Monica as the central romantic couple for the show. Joey, the perpetual horndog, would be lured, and possibly tamed, by the warm, affectionate Monica. In this initial version, Joey was less dim-witted than he would eventually become, with an emphasis on his ladies’-man style and his city-boy attitude. Initially, the casting search was for more of a leading-man type.”

Say it ain’t so!

How You Doing Matt Leblanc GIF by Friends - Find & Share on GIPHY

Seven Friends?

There was almost a seventh friend in the mix, an older character named Pat the Cop, because executives couldn’t see older watchers relating to just the core six:

“The one major suggestion the network had for Crane and Kauffman was the addition of an older secondary character. NBC was concerned that if all the main characters were in their twenties, it would distinctly limit the series’ breakout appeal. An older character—even one that made only occasional appearances—could convince hesitant older viewers to check in with Friends Like Us. Perhaps, the network thought, there might be an older acquaintance they ran into at the coffeehouse who could give them advice about their lives?”

Hmmm… we can’t picture the show with more than the six main characters!

Austerlitz continued:

“The writers made a good-faith attempt, even casting the role, but hated the resulting script so much that they pleaded with NBC to drop the idea. If only NBC would kill Pat the Cop, they promised, they would give their six protagonists parents in notable supporting roles, and find older guest stars to attract a more mature audience. NBC gave its permission, and Pat the Cop was no longer.”

Why There’s Little Diversity

Like many other shows of the era, one area where Friends unfortunately lacked was with diversity of the cast, which starred primarily white actors:

“The producers expressed a desire to be open about race and ethnicity as well. They knew that the Ross and Monica characters were to be siblings, and had decided that they would be played by white performers, but were open to anyone for the other four roles. [Ellie] Kanner’s initial lists included numerous African-American and Asian-American performers. The flexibility was a step forward, to be sure, but some of Friends‘ later struggles regarding diversity were etched in stone here. Without an explicit desire to cast actors who looked more like New York, the producers were likely going to end up, as if by default, with an all-white cast … Television executives were more fearful of asking audiences to laugh along with characters of color, concerned that such shows would be ignored by the majority-white audience.”

Kirsten Dunst Rejects The Idea She Needs To Hurry Up & Lose Her Post-Baby Weight: ‘I Don’t Care’

Kirsten Dunst is in no rush to snap back and shed those pregnancy pounds after becoming a mom!

The Spider-Man alum welcomed her first child, a son named Ennis Howard, with fiancé Jesse Plemmons a little over a year ago in May of 2018.

And, while most celebrity and everyday moms alike usually bee-line their way to the gym in months after giving birth, the actress recently revealed she’s completely unbothered by the idea of needing to lose her post-baby weight!

The 37-year-old told NET-A-PORTER’s digital magazine PorterEdit in an interview published on Friday that her status as established thespian eases the pressure to fit anyone else’s physical standards but her own. She said:

“The benefit of growing up with [celebrity] is that I have a very healthy perspective of being an actress. I haven’t worked out once since I had my baby.”

Instead, the mother-of-one says her positive mindset is all she really needs, adding:

“I’m not one of those people who says, ‘Ohhh I have to get my abs back.’ I feel like I’ve established myself as an actress.”

Okay, girl, we hear you!

The Bring It On alum certainly cemented herself in pop culture history long before becoming a momma, no question there!

On the subject of her self-image, Dunst noted that she has “a healthy amount of vanity that hasn’t tipped into something really destructive” and she aimed “to find parts where I don’t have to be that person.”

Kirsten went on to thank one of her positive role models, filmmaker Sofia Coppola, for helping develop a rock-solid perspective on personal body image early in her career.

“I had good influences growing up. I worked with Sofia [Coppola] when I was a teenager, and she said, ‘Don’t fix your teeth. People will tell you to fix them, but you’re beautiful. You don’t need to.’”

Referencing her time spent shooting the acclaimed Marvel movie series, the Mary Jane Watson portrayer said:

“Later, when I was working on Spider-Man, people were recommending a dentist. I would think, ‘Well, Sofia likes my teeth. She’s so natural, so chic and feminine, and she’s directing movies.’ If she thinks I’m pretty, I’m pretty.”

‘GMA’ Co-Anchor Lara Spencer Apologizes For ‘Insensitive Comment’ About Prince George’s Ballet Classes

Good Morning America co-anchor Lara Spencer is apologizing after making an “insensitive comment” about Prince George‘s rigorous school curriculum, which includes ballet class.

During a segment on Thursday’s episode of the morning show, Spencer said (below) while laughing as sweet images of the young royal flashed on screen:

“He looks so happy about the ballet class. Prince William says George absolutely loves ballet. I have news for you Prince William: We’ll see how long that lasts.”

Many critics took to Twitter to vocalize their opinions about what the 50-year-old had to say:

“so extremely f**ked up of @LaraSpencer to make fun of 6-year-old Prince George for liking ballet on #GoodMorningAmerica this morning. WHERE IS THE APOLOGY”

“I can’t believe @abc and @gma still haven’t apologized or even acknowledged @LaraSpencer’s disgusting homophobic bullying of a six-year-old. What year is it? Hello. Men do ballet. I’m sickened by the ignorance I saw on #GoodMorningAmerica.”

“Ew, @LaraSpencer. That was disgusting. Dancing is an art and a sport. How dare you. You are officially cancelled”

“As a male professional ballet student, #laraspencer’s comments on Prince George taking up ballet is incredibly uneducated and toxic for boys starting a career in an art form that requires strength, technique and determination even as an amateur. You should be ashamed of yourself”

ICYMI, ch-ch-check out the full clip from Thursday’s segment (below):

On Friday, Spencer shared an apology message via Instagram, writing:

“My deepest apologies for an insensitive comment I made during pop news on Thursday. From ballet, which I took as a kid, to anything in life you wish to explore, I fully believe we should all pursue our passion. Go climb your mountain and love every minute of it.”

However, many on social media have expressed their dissatisfaction with Spencer’s apology, demanding it should be on air instead of social media:

“Dear @GMA … I find @LaraSpencer response to be insensitive and her apology a cop out. Not good enough for me… is it good enough for you?? This statement needs to be made on air in the same forum she so freely judged and criticized.”

“@LaraSpencer You need to provide an on air apology and do a piece on male ballet dancers to Re- educate viewers. I have a 15 yr old who is strong and fierce and a talented BALLET dancer waiting on your call. I know MANY more like him. #boysdancetoo #boysdancemovement”

Do you think her sorry should be on air? Or was sharing it to social media sufficient enough?

Karamo Brown Deletes His Twitter Account Amid ‘DWTS’ Sean Spicer Casting Controversy!

Karamo Brown is silencing his social media critics!

As of Friday, the Queer Eye star has deactivated his Twitter account after catching heat for his response to Sean Spicer’s casting on Dancing with the Stars. Brown’s Instagram account is still up and running, but the comments have been turned off.

As we reported on Wednesday, the culture expert and former White House Press Secretary and White House Communications Director were announced as part of the lineup for season 28 of the dancing competition show… and people are still REALLY pissed about it!

Related: ‘Bachelorette’ Hannah Brown Is Not Looking For A Relationship On ‘DWTS’

It’s really no surprise Spicer’s inclusion in the cast has sparked outrage amongst fans, considering the disgraced former WH aide used his platform to repeatedly lie to the American public and attack journalists during his tenure under President Donald Trump.

We really should be wagging our finger at ABC for this casting, right?

Well, a slew of disappointed fans turned their frustrations toward the 38-year-old TV personality, expressing their disapproval that Karamo is even willing to work with Spicer.

In his response to a follower in a since-deleted tweet, the Real World alum penned:

“First, I have no say who is on the cast and didn’t find out till this morning that he is on! But I’ll tell you this… I’m excited to sit down w/ him and engage in respectful conversations. Only way things get better is if we try to educate those who have different POV than us.”

Brown also wrote that he “can’t stand people” who post things “just to flame the fire and get a reaction” in another tweet, adding, “we fight harder than your ass ever has for people of color and members of the LGBTQIA community.”

Hm, that’s a fair point.

Bobby’s got your back, queen! / (c) Brian To/WENN

The embroiled star received some support from fellow Queer Eye star Bobby Berk, who defended his cast member in a series of since-deleted tweets. On Thursday, he hopped online and wrote:

“As if being on @DancingABC was the stars wasn’t already one of the most grueling things anyone can put themselves through, celebs now have to deal with the producers and casting planting political land mines to blow you up. I’m very saddened by what my cast mate @Karamo is having to deal with today.”

The design expert is referencing the way the public slammed Brown for calling Spicer “a good guy” and “a really sweet guy” in an interview with Access Hollywood.  Berk said his pal’s media training was behind the politically correct knee-jerk response.

“We’ve been trained over and over not to talk smack about anyone in an [interview] and to try and be as nice as possible. When being backed in a corner about voicing his opinions about @seanspicer Karamo’s media training kicked in as we are trained to do.”

He continued, adding:

“It’s frankly a really [sh*tty] situation to be put in and @ABCNetwork should be ashamed of themselves for having to put the cast in the position of having to take a political side on a f**king dance competition.”

These two aren’t the only ones who’ve spoken out about the 47-year-old’s casting.

Longtime show host Tom Bergeron went on Twitter and posted a message seemingly shading Spicer, too.

The 64-year-old’s lengthy message revealed he met with the show’s new executive producer a few months ago, and hoped the program would be free of “divisive bookings from ANY party affiliations.”

Clearly, that isn’t happening!

What do U think about it all, Perezcious readers?

It’s kind of a bummer that Karamo is catching so much flack for something he doesn’t have control over. His initial response was… questionable, but shouldn’t we save our energy for #BoycottDWTS instead of attacking Brown? We also have to wonder, is the backlash too overwhelming that he’ll end up quitting DWTS, too?

We’ve got a little over two weeks until the competition for the Mirror Ball begins on September 16, so we’ll just have to wait and see how this one plays out!

Taylor Swift Explains Why She Didn’t Get Political In The 2016 Election — ‘I Was Literally About To Break’

Taylor Swift is making a pledge to get more involved in politics for the 2020 election!

The You Need To Calm Down songstress — who was notably silent during the 2016 election compared to many of her fellow pop stars — is opening up about why she kept quiet, and what she really thinks about President Donald Trump.

Related: Scooter Braun Praises Taylor Swift On ‘Lover’ After Their Feud!

In a snippet from her new interview with The Guardian, the 29-year-old shared her disappointment with the current state of politics in the US:

“We’re a democracy – at least, we’re supposed to be – where you’re allowed to disagree, dissent, debate. I really think that he thinks this is an autocracy.”

Miz Swift describes feeling like “all the dirtiest tricks in the book were used and it worked,” referring to Trump’s campaign and election. For Taylor, she feels the atmosphere in the US right now is “gaslighting the American public into being like, ‘If you hate the president, you hate America.’”

So if this is really how she felt, why didn’t she get involved? Joe Alwyn‘s lover explains that between her mother’s cancer relapse — which she opens up about further in her new track Soon You’ll Get Better — and her feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West, she felt powerless to the media:

“I was just trying to protect my mental health – not read the news very much, go cast my vote, tell people to vote. I just knew what I could handle and I knew what I couldn’t. I was literally about to break.”

The ten-time Grammy Award winner shared her public image at the time made her feel “just useless. And maybe even like a hindrance,” adding se felt “really remorseful for not saying anything sooner,” but that she would have otherwise shown public support for Hillary Clinton.

Taylor’s power is palpable, so even if things are coming a bit delayed from her camp, it can still make a massive difference. After her first political post a month ahead of the 2016 election, Vote.org saw a spike of 65,000 voter registrations in 24 hours.

Moving forward, Swift confirmed she plans to be more proactive when it comes to politics, vowing she will “do everything I can for 2020.”

At the time of her interview with the publication, Tennessee lawmakers were voting to impose a near-total abortion ban on the state, which she expressed her discontent for:

“Obviously, I’m pro-choice. I just can’t believe this is happening.”

As we reported previously, the musician has been more vocal about politics on social media, posting a letter to Tennessee Senator, Lamar Alexander, urging him to vote for the Equality Act, which protects the LGBT community from discrimination.

Orlando Bloom Explains How His Divorce From Miranda Kerr Prepared Him For Marriage With Katy Perry!

Orlando Bloom’s second marriage will NOT end like his first, if all goes according to plan!

The actor recently sat down in an interview with Willie Geist for NBC’s Sunday Today where he spoke on his relationship with Katy Perry and opened up about why he’s confident they’ll go the distance.

Noting how the last thing he wants is a second divorce years after his marriage to Miranda Kerr fell apart, the Carnival Row star explained:

“It’s important to me that [me and Katy] are aligned. I’ve been married and divorced and I don’t want do it again… and we’re both fully aware of that. She’s remarkable and so I’m always so impressed with that and I’m encouraged.”

And he has good reason to be!

Related: Orlando Is ‘All For’ Katy & Taylor Swift’s Reconciled Friendship!

Not only are the couple aligned, they tend to bring out the best in each other. Take, for example, the extravagant proposal Bloom orchestrated for the songstress on Valentine’s Day earlier this year.

As the actor confessed in the interview, the idea of popping the question during an intimate helicopter ride was a bit out of his comfort zone — but he went through with it to cater to Katy’s flair for the dramatic. He teased:

“To be honest, she loves a theme as you can see in everything she does. She loves a big moment.”

We bet he’s given her plenty of big *moments*!

In return, Lando said he’s teaching his future wife to appreciate the “small moments” life has to offer, adding:

“I’m still trying to get her to wrestle into the small moments. The cool thing about what we’re doing, we’re learning to do the small together. I think we’re both fully aware that it’s a mountain to climb and that that mountain won’t stop, in terms of a relationship because I think that’s what it is and I love to evolve and fortunately, she does too.”

Katy, for her part, has been just as cautious about walking down the aisle a second time, seeing as Russell Brand filed for divorce from her just 14 months after they tied the knot.

During a recent appearance on KISS Breakfast With Tom & Daisy, she said of taking the next big step with her fiancé:

“[We’re] definitely trying to, like, lay the good emotional foundation for the lifetime of commitment, which is, like, a big deal, you know?”

Relationships have to evolve to last (at least that’s what Jada Pinkett Smith says), so it sounds like Katy and Lando have the right idea here!

Bam Margera Is Reportedly ‘About To Give Rehab Another Shot’

It may be now or never for Bam Margera… so let’s hope the former MTV star gets his act together and gets clean sooner, rather than later!

The former Viva La Bam star is apparently going to try rehab AGAIN this week, with sources claiming he’s “voluntarily entering” a new rehab facility on Thursday, right on the heels of his most recent, extremely short and unsuccessful outing in rehab.

Related: Bam Publicly Begs Dr. Phil For Helping Mending His Broken Family

According to sources close to Bam who spoke about the situation to TMZ on Thursday, it appears the reality TV star will voluntarily enter a new rehab facility as soon as tonight. Since ending up in a bar directly after leaving his last rehab facility, it’s being reported Bam “intends to try to stay sober.” Furthermore, he finally, truly realizes this may be what he needs to really save himself, according to the sources. Here’s hoping…

The former Jackass star most recently got into trouble after being found at a Los Angeles bar on Wednesday night, sipping on “an ice cold mug of beer.” The relapse away from sobriety came directly after he had bailed himself out of his then-second treatment facility earlier this month. The reality TV star is fast running out of chances to get sober, but this one may stick — because he has no other choice.

Can He Keep His Phone?!

Per the reports here, Bam’s biggest problems with the last two rehab facilities from which he exited came when he was unable to communicate easily with his son. Both stops tried to confiscate his phone, and he wasn’t down to not have it around for communicating with his progeny.

Now entering his third in-patient facility, per the reports, he’s going to argue for the right to keep his phone with him “at all times,” so as to have easy access to talk with his beloved child whenever necessary. Many rehab facilities like this don’t want in-patients to have phones and other links to the outside world during treatment, but who knows… maybe Bam can make an exception.

Regardless of all those specifics, here’s hoping things go well for Bam. The reality TV star has been through quite a bit over the last few years since his MTV fame waned a little, and we’re hoping he can get his life straightened out and back on track… especially for the sake of his young family!
